OPERATION NAMIBIA shows photos and short films of an international group who set sail from Portsmouth in England to Walvis Bay in Namibia in 1976. Thousands of banned books were intended to help bring peace to Namibia. In the voiceover, letters and diary entries reveal the conditions, frustrations, and dangers of the voyage as it progresses. The expectations of those who stayed at home and the experiences of the crew become skewed. The strategies of protest themselves are scrutinized: can books trigger a revolution? (as)
